a few days ago a friend of mine came to me for some background information on a helmet that he had bought
inside the helmet there are markings that are very clear to read
olso there is a numeric stamp but was unable to decypher
there is olso a little f mark to be found that sugests that it had been repaired and was authorised back in the field
there is also some issius with both cocades that where on the helmet
i hope that my pics are clear enough to Judge the helmet

The first cocade is normaly the type you find on saxon helmets
the main thing go's for the other one it has some od things about it
it is not punched inside out ,the inner ring is not in the centre and it is copper
could that sugest it is a reproduction

Can someone help me with that little probleme that I came across with and how do i delete a double foto

Second foto removed Jonas. The markings I see are...BAIV (1st foto), then f BIA IV . The "V" notched kokarden are also found on the Prussian ersatz tin "kit helmets", so no problem. The other metal seen is brass not copper and looks ok to me. I think "Hans" was just having a bad day in the factory when that one was punched out. Perhaps too much beer at lunch?? :?

I think the 'f' stands for ''Feldbrauchbar" (spelling?) which as you say, indicates a field repair was made on the helmet. Very nice.

It thus not have the upward rim as it schould be when it whas punched , the cocade is totaly flat on the inner ring front and back

What i olso find strange is it has the little f mark ,but i did not find any thing that sugests that it needed a repair
I flipped it around a hundered times but found nothing of a repair

What i olso noticed is that there is a little mark on the back of the reichscocarde ,anyone seen anything like that before on a cocade

Jonas

I have in my collection about 25 helmets but non of them has a mark on them like the one on the foto
Is olso the first one i have seen like this

Also noticed it! Seems like the "A" for Assmann, maker of buckles in WWII and BÜROMÖBEL now.

Maybe the repair was something like, replacing a broken side post? Tthus resulting in miss matched cockades.
