Some years ago I had the chance of helping with the display of some headgear; It came from an attic of the town hall of our units Garison Town: Nieuwpoort; Belgium.
It was all dust and most helmets were not complete. But: nevertheless: some fine pics to share
I'd like to share the pics with you.

This is an extremly scarce Belgian "trenchhelmet"; only about 1000 have been made and issued. Also called "Elisabeth helmet" (after our Queen, wife of King Albert I). As she was working as a nurse in a fieldhospital she had noticed the large quantity of soldiers with headwounds. She urged for better protection of guards and spotters in the frontline. ...I forgot to take a pic of the helmets liner... :cry:

Some very nice helmets and its indeed a pity that some of these rare helmets are not complete. Thanks for sharing :thumb up:
