Those long posts on the helmet in the U.S. might be a bit sharp on the wearer's forehead.

At roughly $133 (U.S.) vs. $714, the Colberg helmet in the U.K. would leave the buyer with ample funds in the budget to buy several good references.

"This hard to find WWI German spike helmet comes from a high end collection that was mostly sent back at the end of WWII by the owner's father, much of which is in a fairly well known museum. (of fakes?) The detailed information will be provided upon request of potential bidders but the collector does not want it publicly advertised. The overall condition is very good and quite sound."

I wonder, if the seller is selling these for a 'collector'. If so, I wonder if they know they're selling fakes. We'll see what their response is. Until then, I'll take back my ridicule in my last post. :)

Seller did not return my message, but did end the listings (all of them). My conclusion is that this is an honest seller who was selling for a less than honest person who gave him or her that line of bull regarding the fakes.
At least that how I feel right now.
