"Short version" front plate

Well for one, this is actually an M17 and not M16 as advertised... (the 1st thing I learned is how to distinguish WW1 Stahlhelms thanks to Kaiser Tony's website :) )
 
My understanding is that M17 is a misnomer. It is a M16 with a steel liner band which is often called a M17.
The M18 is easily distinguishable by the absence of the chinstrap lug rivet.

But I was referring to the "short version" stirmpanzer. First I've seen.
