Very nice helmet's all . I agree with Tony Some Veteran's this was the ultimat prize , so maybe theu actually took care of them > Also alot came back after WW2 , could they Veteran keepsakes from the war and sold to Soldier's after WW2? just a couple thought's .
As to the Mechlenburg Spike , very nice looking helmet . .I had to do the same to get my last 2 helmet's together.

This the Jager Zu Pferde and an M15 Prussian Infantry M15. They are not even in the same class as other m15's on the posting but thought i would try to post .
The m15 infantry had a set of Brass Cap badge retaining pins holding the Wappen on.

Once again I am late to the party .

Here are my pristine m-15s . Pruss shako Baden line and Wurt pioneer. Not sure if the Wurt belongs but it has the tan interior like the other two and is pristine .

Hey this is a nice tread, never seen it before, I think this is my most pristine M15. (issued)

My wartime grey shako is marked 1917 and I think some rural police may still be using the shako.

I know that the m-16 steel came out in 1916 , so by all rights that marked the end of pickelhaube usage unless behind the lines , arty battalions and old officers funerals ect ect ect.

Do any of you all know or have any spikes with a 1917 or 1918 stamp or mark ?

Many forget that A.K.O 21 September 1915 also brought in the M15 Friedens-Uniform. Those Pickelhaubens were made before and well after the introduction of the M16 Stahlhelme, as they were only intended for garrison and parade use. I have several Pickelhauben dated 1915 to 1918, almost certainly Friedens-Uniform. In fact, I search for them, as they often have unique characteristics.

Here are two:
