Hello all, I've read through several of the posts talking about various shows around. I'm unable to find where there is info on where they are located, times etc. All info would be appreciated. We're from Colorado and it's a pretty good distance to any where other than Denver.
Thanks

Just not a lot of Militaria shows in Colorado. There is one held quarterly at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in west Denver (you just missed the October one, next one is January 18th). Their website is:

Haven't been to it in quite some time. You can find some items at the numerous gunshows, but it seems to be picked over and a bit on the high side. Their are 2 shows in Colorado Springs, the 8 times a year Sertoma show as well as the RK promotions show, as well as the Tanner show in Denver. And when Asmic has their convention in Denver, their are quite a few national dealers (including Gus's friend Hayes Otoupalik) that show up.

SOS is the show we talk the most about here, it is in Louisville Kentucky the end of February and first of March. The Utah Gun Collector's Association just had their show in Ogden Utah last week end. The next one is January 10 & 11 20015. It is a small show, but a collector's show and has a nice selection of displays as well as vendors.

The Colorado Gun Collector's Association show is May 16 17 in Denver, here is a link to their site.

I have been told the CGCA show is much better than the UGCA show, and it is much closer to you.

There are a lot of commercial shows that focus on the ARs and AKs as well as T shirts and ninja crap, but the collector's shows focus on history.
Best
Gus
ps Hayes has a show in Missoula Montana that is a good one, but it is usually in August.

Hey thanks for all the info guys. I'll check into these and get some on my calendar for next year.
The CGCA sounds like one I'd go to. I'm more into historical stuff than just the gun shows.

I remember when the girls went ballistic over some vendors selling lingerie. They shut him down!
It was not the lingerie that they objected to, it was the porn. The sellers in question claimed that "Debby Does Dallas" was an historical film. To show how family oriented the SOS is, the organizers were very quick to respond to the complaints and get the x rated stuff off the shelves.
Hey Kevin, check out the photos of the displays at the 2012 show,

A friend has tried to talk me into taking one of my displays to this show, but it is the wrong time of year for me to be so far from the farm.
Best
Gus

The seller is Belle & Blade and I'm sorry to say that they've gone down hill over the years. Their prices are high, and in a few cases it seems like the films are bootlegs (or at least non-commercial copies), but over the last few years they've branched out into t-shirts and faux vintage signs. If all of it was military maybe it wouldn't be a problem, but they carry ones like "Keep Calm and Drink Beer." That, along with the porn, lingerie and other non-sense sends the wrong message - almost to the level of a flea market.

None of us want to see SOS turn into that.

For that reason I will not spend one cent on anything Belle & Blade sells. I can find any of the movies on eBay or Amazon.

There is a British film entitled "71". It is about the troubles in Northern Ireland. You know where I can get a copy of it? I don't think it's Northern Irish porn. :-k

Hey Joe, are you sure that it the title? I have looked everywhere and with out luck. Usually on the webernet you can find everything.

Gsu--
You did a bang up job mate. Perhaps the problem is that Joe wasn't quite accurate on the title. It is '71. The film debuted at the Berlin Film Festival in February:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/'71_(film" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Here is the official trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIYDNyEkJP4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here is the IMDB page:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2614684/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The film will be available via Amazon.co.uk (need a region free DVD player to see it):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/71-DVD-Jack-OConnell/dp/B00O7LYFIG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413555830&sr=8-1&keywords=71" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't think '71 has technically "opened" in America. It might be released here in December, at least in New York and Los Angeles, as that would allow it to be eligible for an Oscar. It is English language so it wouldn't be for "best for foreign film" but it could be for something like "best screenplay" or something. I don't think this is strong enough for "best picture," but who knows.

If Belle & Blade has a copy it has to be a bootleg as this hasn't been released anywhere yet.

Now that's how you use the Web on the Internet to find something Gsu.

Cheers,
PS

'71 makes all the difference, I tried spelling it, but never thought it might be 1971

:-$
I had an unfair advantage. I knew what Joe was talking about as I heard about the movie. I'd already seen the trailer and wondered when it was opening! :-"

It has to be a great show, only half the size of SOS but with 100 display tables, it is tough competition at these shows as they encourage some of the best displays. Here is my latest display from the UGCA show last week end on Gas warfare in WWI.

Joe, '71 came out earlier this summer on DVD. I finally watched it this weekend and thought it was very well done.

Don't know about Netflix, as I don't get it, but I rented this movie from Redbox two weeks ago.
Well done, but the accents were tough to understand at times; I really had to turn the volume up.
Really, a rather grim tale, but worth seeing IMHO.
