Silver plate, rememberance of a fallen Major during WW1

Hi Patrik,
Very nice plate.
Imo it is a parting gift to an officer from the other officers, either because he transferred or retired.
Why do you think he fell on the battlefield?
Regards,
Lars

Thank you @Lars13, I assumed Scheiden meant departed, as in killed. I was able to find a major with that same surname listed KIA. Any idea where I can find more information about this major?, photos etc?

Major Kuno von Quitzow (born 17.03.1868) was Kommandeur of the JB3 between 2.8.14 and 28.1.15, between 28.2.15 and 31.7.15, between 7.11 15 and 2.12.15, between 1.2.16 and 26.2.16 and finally between 19.3.16 and 30.12.16.

He is mentioned in the Ruhmeshalle im Zeughaus in Berlin, Ehrentafel XXXXIII

He is buried in Aachen with the rank of a "Kapitän"....
