Wow, you don't see these for sale every day.

I'm certainly no expert, but to me the details all look plausibly real. Fixtures, fittings, labels etc look legit. But the condition is just too perfect for something 100 years old.

Australian slouch hats in the Australian War Memorial aren't this perfect, and they have been professionally curated and preserved and kept in climate controlled environments.

The condition just looks too good for a hat that should be 100+ years old! I suppose it could be an unissued one but that means it somehow survived the post-WWI era, the Third Reich, the bombing of every German city, etc.
 
Some sort of traditions/reunion item, perhaps?
