Small Horde of Kokarden found in WW1 Doughboy Trunk after 100 Years

Hello,

I was very fortunate to acquire 53-Kokarden from a recently found WW1 U.S. Doughboy's trunk in a basement of a house in the eastern U.S.A.

There were approximately 150 kokarden in the grouping, consisting of these Kurassier e.m. examples, several Wurttemburg, several Baden, 6-Bavarian, 4-Mecklenburg, 1-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, several National e.m. examples, and many Prussian e.m. examples.

I also acquired a mint unused M15 chinstrap, and 2-mint unused Prussian e.m. Feldzeichen.

I wish that I could have acquired more Baden examples, and more National e.m. infantry examples, but I was outbid on the other auction lots.

Apparently this WW1 Soldier got into a warehouse of items, as there were several Faustreimen, and Troddel that a friend of mine acquired.

Sadly we missed out on 2-Mint Unissued Bread Bags with the straps, 2-Mint unissued Medic Canteens with the straps, and a couple other mint unissued canteens, among an interesting array of other warehouse acquired items such as Prussian e.m. M15 pickelhaube front plates.

I will be keeping some of these for my own future use, and taking the rest of them to the upcoming S.O.S. in Lousiville. Unfortunately the Baden examples are previously spoken for.

Best Regards,

Alan

Wow, apparently the "Preview" button should not be used when posting photos here, as it makes some of the photos become inaccessible. :(

Here's the last image.

Don't think my PM's are working but i'd take a pair of cuirrassier cockades if they are for sale , pretty please. Its the only thing missing on my cuirrassier helmet now. My email is [email protected] . Worth a try !!

Wow!!!

I would be interested in a Mecklenburg cockade.....The one at the very bottom...

Here is a look at the 2-Prussian Feldzeichen that I also won at the same auction.

I will send Private Messages to those that have made inquiries here.

Sorry, but the main reason I am here is because I'm a collector. I'm not here to brag or rub anything in the face of anyone here. Brian, James, and a few others here realize that I spend a considerable amount of what little precious spare time I have digging and searching for stuff to show up to buy. Yes, I got lucky with all of these. Believe it or not I had to pay what's probably full retail to win these two precious feldzeichen. Someone Almost Beat me out with my absentee bid for them. I never said that they would be for sale. I am truly sorry that you assumed that they would be for sale without me initially adding "that they were not for sale".

Best Regards,

Alan

I think you took me way too seriously. I never expected that these would be for sale. I know you are a collector. I was more kidding than anything else.
Sorry if I made you think that I was even slightly upset.
Wonderful find.
