Small M15 collection

Just picked up this small M15 Field Grey collection, mainly got it for the M15 Bavarian, which is nicely named, rest will probably go for sale soon.

Nice Bavarian Chevaulegers M15, has wrong spiked IMO, should be fluted. But some say this spike is ok too? either way it has been there a long time.

Some are in great condition, couple are in just ok shape.

Would love it if anyone has any info on the soldier. Angers Faucheux

Thanks to a fellow member, Angers appears to be a town in Western France. and Faucheux is most likely the soldier that picked it up.

thanks my friend.

Very nice collection. I've had a couple of helmets with the same Angers Faucheux in them. I think it was either an old time collector or a costume shop.Angers Faucheux.jpg

It may help you to know that Angers is a city in France, maybe the Faucheux is a costume company there, or just the name of the collector.

Congratulations to Aicusv and Coert.
Faucheux was indeed a company renting costumes and accessories for theater plays in Angers, France, in the 1930-1950's. The company is gone but an association keeps its collection of 12500 costumes and still rents these. Everything described here:

Super find James, congratulations! =D> :bravo:

The M15 Bavarian with the square cut visor and the cloverleaf spike base looks just like the one I found in MN several years ago. My example has the standard infantry non-fluted spike as well, and it looks like it has been there forever with matching gray color.

Does your example have screw posts on the front plate, or wire loops? Mine has wire loops for attaching the front plate.

Best Regards,

Alan

How nice James :thumb up: ,
It is possible that a Chevaulegers was equipped wit a short spike too , stranger things have shown up , I have a Hessen with Baden regimental stamp, beginning collectors prefer the helmets which need no further explanation.

Interesting this story of a renting house near Angers. Maybe they still have other original Pickelhaube !

At about the same time in Angers was this long-gone museum. No idea what happened to this collection, Perhaps some items went to Faucheux.

Me too! The picture of this particular museum reminds me of the Hill62 museum of Jaques Schier, near Zillebeke.
I do not know if it is still open, the owner died a few years ago.

I know that the Ramparts war museum in Ypres moved to the UK after the owner died . :(
