I have tried Ciney in all possible way's, as a seller and as a buyer, at the militaria fair and the antiques fair, and it doesn't work for me eighter...Glad to know that you've found something..
I haven't found anything...only 5 seconds of fame on the police drone for me,who was in the air all the time !
Nice finds I regularly vist the Maissin and Anloy area a few years ago i found a Lebel rifle in the forest of Maissin.I only bought a modest french officer kepi of the 93 regiment because that regiment fought near maissin, the town in the Belgian Ardennes where there is a beautiful cemetery of german and french soldiers fallen during the battle of the frontier in august 1914 (Nearby our holliday house).
(their adversary where the IR 115 from Hessen that had very substantial losses at maissin,
there was a very nice pickelhaube for sale in Ciney of the prestigious Hessian regiment as well but alas already gone when I saw it an financially out of reach for me... but was able / allowed to study it and make a photograph before the new owner took it with him (was beautiful helmet, no doubt original, nicely marked to correct bekleidungsamt)
Wow, that is a cool find!, using metal detector?Nice finds I regularly vist the Maissin and Anloy area a few years ago i found a Lebel rifle in the forest of Maissin.
What’s the problem with Ciney? I’m in the US so I’m not too familiar with the collecting scene in Europe. Is it just crowded? No good items for the Imperial German collector?I have tried Ciney in all possible way's, as a seller and as a buyer, at the militaria fair and the antiques fair, and it doesn't work for me eighter...
...so after 4 times I have never been there again....
That is so cool! Were you able to keep it? I know civil war metal detectors here in the US are usually able to keep their finds.Nice finds I regularly vist the Maissin and Anloy area a few years ago i found a Lebel rifle in the forest of Maissin.

Overall, here in Europe, France and Belgium the use of metaldetectors is forbidden. And rightely so too. That is so cool! Were you able to keep it? I know civil war metal detectors here in the US are usually able to keep their finds.
This is true. National Parks and Historic Battlefields. When guys want Gettysburg related artifacts, they usually get permission to metal detect on private land surrounding the battlefield.unless it is in a National Park
Steve
Right, there is a lot of unexploded ordinance in the ground and people could get seriously hurt. I know a while back a bunch of metal detectors were arrested for trying to search the Verdun battlefield, and some guys in England were arrested for illegally excavating and selling medieval relics. Do surface finds fall under the same laws?Overall, here in Europe, France and Belgium the use of metaldetectors is forbidden. And rightely so too.
If you get caught metaldetecting, you have a problem, a big one.
