SOLD 88th (Nassau) Infantry Regiment Wappen

Unfortunately, I'm not sure. I don't like the fact that the letters aren’t completely visible, and I don't know if that might have been the case back then. The black paint also seems to have been applied sloppily.
The soldering spots and the eagle itself look good, on the other hand. Sorry for the criticism.

No need to apologise, always good to know. I bought it years ago as an original but always felt the black paint on the lettering might have been re-applied at some time

Amy Bruno, your examples are one piece stampings which would’ve been the production runs. Very nice! The one being offered is probably from when the honour was effected and the Bandeau added. I’ve suggested before that Regts. must have had multiple boxes of little Bandeau to solder onto the Preussen Line Eagle. Not uncommon. The Bandeau have been added, all good, now the question is when.

On a similar note if I may, I have been after one of these for decades. My heart went up 90 beats, but then my eyes also went to the Bandeau. Sorry Garlanj you almost had a sale.

For once, I have an opposite opinion, Sandy... For me, words on Garlanj's example are more legible than average. Look at the undisputable one I showed: the E of ALLIANCE is almost completely hidden under the wing. MESADEIBOR appears as a single word, DEIBOR letters, in particular, being squeezed to fit the scroll. Typography on those plates was not exemplary.
As of the black paint, a touch-up is no deadly sin, in my opinion. I did it a couple of times (not on the IR88) but I used water-based China ink, which can be removed instantly.
