Looking for an old book (end 1960ies beginning 70ies...?) on the Hauben by an American author... Must have come out about the same time of the Bowman books.... An American officer?
-Not really what you would call a reference book now....One for the Book collection.
Thank you!

The first Pickelhaube reference book I purchased when I started collecting. At the time, early 70's, it was the only English language book available on the subject. Still have it.

No longer available...? ...Was a bit too slow I guess...😬
This one is in Canada and shows as $27.50 US and $20 US shipping when I choose Germany as the destination. So $47.50 US total. Mine cost me $38.25 US with shipping within Canada.

Wow. I would hate to think another member here saw my post and bought it out from under you. How very rude.
No sweat. Thank you very much to notify me. Will find me one; and tell the Missus...or perhaps...best tell her first😎

I wore my original copy out. At the time it was published it was groundbreaking, for a book in English. It's basic, but there is a lot of information packed in it, and I love the photographs. Now I have the Larcade books, and Laine, but unless I'm looking for a specific bit of information I find myself still leafing through the Rankin book. Perhaps nostalgia, or it reminds me of how far I've come. I lusted after the Kaiser Alexander mitre, and now I have some.

Excellent Grenadiermützen. Love these.

Goh Francis, just got back from Manhattan, I could ordered locally and bring it over.
However, if this could help you to avoid shipping costs and you can wait patiently until mid-October, our son (living at the East Coast) will be visiting then Europe with spouse and friends. In this case and based on yr info he can now already collect the book via Amazon or Abe and take it
with him to Belgium.

Here’s mine dully used at the time, was very useful then on shows or tradefairs.

Those 2 are great !
Some collectors don't go for the parade miters, but I sure do
Plus , I really like the KAGGR#1 unit
Here are some of mine .
I also started with the Rankin book

For me that little book started it all.
A collector friend loaned me his copy circa 1970
I saw the photos of the collections of the "old time " collectors
Walter E. Hartmann and Cliff Foster I sat down and made up
a want list .I said to myself ; " This is for me "
Cliff Foster was in the U S Army stationed in Germany
He bought helmets and steins and shipped them back to
my mentor Robert ( Bob ) M. Ledbetter in Memphis , Tenn.
I would go to Ledbetter's house and buy what I could
