Awesome - love that 5th Dragoon Guards helmet.

My Great Grandfather was in the Fifth Dragoon Guards and took part in one of the last cavalry charges of the Boer war at the Battle of Elandslaagte.

Excellent Patrick, some very fine pieces. I have always loved the home service helmets especially! Thanks for posting, we are all collectors interested in any kind of militaria.

Eye catching headgear.

That's quite a helmet plate on the Lancer helmet.

Would have been a very expensive die to fabricate.

Thanks for sharing.

Steve,

I have number of other ranks lancer plates, and two officer plates, which are even more elaborate. I’ll post photos, when I have a minute. Sunny day, so dog-walking ( nobody else around where we live ) and vegetable-planting call!

Beautiful Helmets. The ancient headgears were works of art, no matter from which country :bravo:

Love them too.
Had the first one too in my first collection.
And used to have a felt in this collection.
Bust sold recently.

I only have one blue Brit helmet (RA officer), but they are temping. Nice collection.
