In addition to the world-famous T-shirt the real advantage of list meeting is lunch. There has been a BBQ place the last couple of years that seems to be okay but nothing is better than getting a sandwich made by Gus. In addition, it does give you a place to put your stuff under the table. Of course Paul picks through it with his peanut butter fingers but we are trying to teach him not to touch. I have not made my usual soapbox stand and urge everyone to bring one of those little bottles of hand sanitizer. The bathrooms in the show hall are disgusting–very disgusting. Most of us use the facilities down the hall. I guess if we are smart we will just provide a bottle of hand sanitizer–Gus uses plastic gloves and he looks like one of those sex deviants.

Now where is George Anderson……???

Tony,

You made me laugh out loud! I remember that picture!

Jerry,

Thank you you spurred me into action. Okay here is the deal on dinner.
We are intending to go to the same restaurant for three nights. Wednesday–Thursday–Friday. Wednesday has been historically a very small group, Thursday is the big group and Friday is a large group.

Right now we have eight seats for Wednesday. Robinson and Lebrasseur have five seats. We might be able to get more on Wednesday but there are still three seats available.

Thursday–we have 20 seats.
Robinson–two
James L–three
Randy T–one
Tony C–one
anybody who comes from Alsace with the first name of Remy–one
Richard Ames–one
Jerry R–four
Alan Schafer–one

this leaves six seats remaining.

On Friday we have 12 seats. This one is not at all likely to expand.
Robinson two
James L–three
Randy T–one
Tony C–two
that leaves four seats.

The ones I have listed are people who have talked to me specifically. If we need to change numbers either lower or higher please let me know. Seat filling is on a first-come first-served basis and I am the final arbiter.
(Actually Janet is.) Should there for some reason be a shortage of seats I will endeavor to force people into different holes in order to get as many people to the restaurant at least once as possible.

Void where prohibited by law–listening to me might be hazardous to your health. Do not be there if you are pregnant or expect to get pregnant.

We have the party room both Thursday and Friday night. So if you do not come to the restaurant please join us for an adult beverage–and yes Peter we would try to have some lemonade–the hotel will probably be hopping!
PS–I know that Tony C has been picking over parts of his collection to sell–hmmmmm

Hey Tony,
The bad thing about that suit was that it had no fly, but it was still cleaner than the restrooms, I am glad that I did not need to visit Pooh that trip.

It isn't lemonade. It is iced tea that I drink by the gallons.

I walked a half mile (each way) to Starbucks twice a day while in Paris one summer as it was the only place I could get iced tea.

due to work issues I cannot get out of, I will not be attending the SOS this year, I am heart broken but will survive and look forward to next year.

James

James is not alone, I can not make it either, a combination of the coldest summer on record in years (poor farm income) and having to overhaul the engines in a tractorand pickup, drill a new well and put a transmission in my hay truck has strained finances, and now, I will be helping my parents move in the next weeks. SOS is the best gathering of friends there is, and I will miss it dearly, the only consolation, is that I am already planning on the trip for next year.
Best
gus

I'm really sorry to hear that James and Gus won't be at the show. I'll be sure to bring the camera and computer and post some images.

There is no Wi-Fi at the show (at least I could never connect), but if wants to help me post I can shoot photos to my BlackBerry and e-mail them for posting. Just say the word.

Due to some last-minute cancellations which have been unavoidable SOS 2011 looks to be somewhat different. The table will be there–Peter, his father, Janet and I will be manning the center. There seems to be a good possibility that this year we may be co-located with the other helmet guys. Not positive yet. My service dog will be under the table most of the time. So if you decide to buy anything edible you are forewarned! We will have water bottles at the table but I am not sure that we will be doing lunch.

Restaurant reservations will be downsized so if you have any desire to get a seat speak up now before I change the reservation.

Despite the fact that some people are staying at a different hotel [though I have no reason why] we will still be operating the party room on Thursday and Friday night. Without James A show and tell should be smaller.

There will be no T-shirts. Limited interest at best.

The show must go on!–I just need to get organized to be able to sell more stuff.

Okay I hope this is the last change–it is a fairly major change.

For various reasons some of the dinners and the party room on Thursday have been canceled.

There will still be a dinner Thursday night. These are the people I have currently–if there are any changes please let me know and I can adjust the number a bit. The party room at the La Quinta hotel will be open on Friday from about 730 till whenever. Show and tell will have to be Friday night. Thursday after dinner there is nothing planned.

Thursday–we have 20 seats.
Robinson–two
Randy T–one
Tony C–one
anybody who comes from Alsace with the first name of Remy–two
Richard Ames–one
Jerry R–four
Alan Schafer–one
Justin Kollar-one
Matt Rebholz-one

total 14

If there are any changes to the dinner list please let me know.

Peter and I along with his father and my wife Janet will be manning the tables. Currently, I am bringing four helmets to sell.

We will have water and probably some rolls and cheese for lunch. Remember to bring your hand sanitizer. Hopefully it will be warmer than last year or the year before but I am no weatherman.

We will probably have some extra table helper badges as apparently they decided to allow the wives to have their own badge. The best thing to do is to make a phone call to us on Wednesday night and we should be able to sort it out. If you do not have my cell phone number and need it I would be willing to send it to you by PM.

General schedule:
Wednesday nothing
Thursday–show–dinner at 6 PM–nothing afterwards.
Friday–show–no dinner–party room open about 730 at La Quinta.
Saturday–show till 3 PM.–Nothing later.

Sorry if any changes inconvenienced anyone. Looks like we will be driving but have Internet access.

If there is someone who would be willing to post pictures–we can probably mail a bunch from our iPhone's but we will need an e-mail to send them to and that person would have to post them. Let me know.
