SOS 2012 photos from the show and other stuff

I can't speak for Gus, James, Jerry, Joe, Randy, Remy or anyone else, but this was a great show. I'm sorry my father couldn't make it this year, but my wife seemed to enjoy it (or at least not hate it).

Here are my photos:

Hey Guys ;
Had a Great time seeing everyone the time goes so fast.
Thanks to Peter for the lead on a Super Sun Helmet.

Jerry

Just got home, had a great time, and found a few good helmets, I am happy.

Only bad thing is on Saturday, caught the flu, and from this day forward it will be called "gus's revenge"

James

I caught the bug in Louisville the day we arrived, James thought it was funny until he got it, then I was feeling better and it did seem a bit funnier to me too. It sounded like there were quite a few people in our hotel who had it.

I'm not sick but maybe it is the fact I'm getting older but this show really took it out of me. I've never been so tired. I know it was a long drive, and those concrete floors are killer but I'm exhausted.

I must have worn myself out buying and selling helmets!

I think the big news of this show is that many people got sick. There are rumors that it was food poisoning, and I thought I had eaten something on my forbidden list too. but I now think it was the Norwalk virus. There was a large number of people who were sick, and not all eat the same things. The symptoms fit, and so do the circumstances. We heard that there were a number of the staff of the hotel where we stayed that were sick, and that can not be related to the show.
We got home last night, a quick trip thanks to some advice from Chip, it is good to be home, but we are isolating ourselves from friends and neighbours for a while (I will invite my brother in law up when I thnk it is safe, and see if he gets it)
Best
Gus

It was great to see many of you at the show! Didn't have a chance to visit as much as I would have liked; too busy buying up fun stuff for the next catalog.

Lots of folks fell ill. I thought about it every time I shook someone's hand, and was careful not to touch eyes or mouth until I made a (very frequent) stop by the lav to wash up. (By the way - as washing your hands is so important, why do these places purposefully install faucets that offer nothing more than a thin stream of liquid moving at the speed of ox drool? Just a thought.)

A friend went home to Ohio and was told by the doc that so many people were on fluid IV's because of this that they were starting to run short of IV's to give them. Glad we came prepared for the zombocalypse, as it sure looked like the start of a George Romero movie. Witnessed one poor fellow hauled out in a wheelchair on Sunday, having redecorated the already grim facilities with a generous volume of some sort of chunky, mucilaginous biofilm. SOS was great, but we simply could not leave that place fast enough. Thanks to help from the Stewarts, we got packed up quite a bit earlier than usual.

Like Gus said, there are plenty of deals on the net, but you can't beat the community of friends at a big show like this. It was a real treat to see everybody, even if we did not get to hang out and visit as long as I would have liked.

I almost forgot, among the stories from the show is a good one that came in at the last moment on Sunday. A fellow found a wallet containing over $2,000 in cash, marched it up to the front admin area and turned it in without so much as a second thought. Nice to know that such people still exist!

Hey Jeff,
The wallet story does not surprise me, SOS is one of the few places where you can walk away from your table and leave thousands of dollars of things in the open unattended for a long time, and come back to find everything there, or, (and this has happened to me) someone who has a table near yours brings a bundle of bills and says, I sold something off your table, here is the money.
There are deals at the show, but they are not there long enough to post photos on the interweb and wait for decisions from someone who wants to buy. Over half of what I spent was for a friend, so it is possible to make such purchases, but he has not seen it yet, as there was no time to contact him.

What makes SOS the best show in the world is the people, and they come from around the world to do it.
Best

A guy bought a helmet from me, walked away and left his wallet on my table. Must have been a trend this year. And yes, I did chase him down and gave his wallet back!

If I recall correctly, Daisy was not the only girl that far gone, it was a great party!

Talk about being SICK. I started feeling poorly on Saturday morning. By Sunday I was down and out. My doctor thought it was food poisoning. YUCK. :o

I thought you were the doctor! I don't think it could have been food poisoning, too many people who did not share the same food got it. There were even people in our hotel that did not attend SOS who were green.
The only up side to it was James' kids were hoping to get out of school, but in my opinion, haveing this was way worse the the worst day at school.

Daisy and I thought it might be snake bite therefore we prepared for that and did not get sick. It is important to note that Gus got it 1st and the only reason that James got it was because he was constantly kissing Gus. James got so sick that he even sold the Nazi negligée before Lori or any of the girls got a chance to model it.

Actually, James getting sick was the very best part of the show! By the way, has anyone heard form him since?

You guys had me so worried about getting sick that I bathed in bleach and burned everything I bought at SOS!
Too bad, that North Vietnamese bread basket was really cool
