SOS 2014

James called me last night and told me that we have our tables! We will be in the same location which I have to say is the Annex but the company is great! We're looking forward to this one and already have our rooms. James's new job allows for no problem attending and Gus' new knee should be well on its way towards the next Olympics. I think we are going to be next-door to Randy again – one-stop shopping. We will be on location from the night of 26 February and leave the morning of 2 March 2014. The hotel we will be at is the Hilton Garden Inn http://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/kentucky/hilton-garden-inn-louisville-airport-SDFAHGI/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I will put in my normal plug for this show. This is an annual gathering. If you are new to the hobby or new to the group this is a great place to put a face with the name. All sorts of bargains and deals come your way once you are known entity. In addition, there are people to ask questions of that will probably save you from falling off the bridge. There is none better in my opinion than Randy Trawnik. Larry Stewart is always set up and will give you a straight answer – they are always very pleasant. All of the usual suspects are there and one of these days we will lure Brian back down there.

On the off chance that it is cold – never happened before except once or twice – having a home base is a great deal for storing your coat and purchases you may have made around the hall. :D :D :D

I'm looking forward to it as well, with one problem... my mother booked a cruise without asking the dates. So my father will come down with us but has to fly to San Juan on Friday morning and will miss the end of the show.

SOS or cruise? Hmmm, I think I'd take SOS any day of the year, but then again the only cruise ship I'd be willing to set foot on would be the Titanic.

The rumor of the day is that Brian is coming this year! We haven't seen him in years. Used to be a staple.

Brian who? I was beginning to think he was a myth, like Paul LeB

Gusmeister....you have always had many imaginary friends in the Land O' Gus. Some people call it Idaho but that is a misnomer. So, yes I am committed to the SOS 2014. It will be great to meet old friends and make some new ones! Gus....don't know if you are aware but our Canuck bucks are now not only colourful but plastic as well. Our illustrious leaders have chosen to copy the Aussies and go for plastic! I hate it as does anyone in the service industry that I have talked to. It sweats in your pocket on a hot day. Anyway, looking forward to the Show. Hotel is booked!

Hey Brian,
You had better see if you can trade your plastic stuff for some real money before you cross the boarder, but you had better brig some beer to subsist on as our beer will probably kill you. I am looking forward to an update on how the Canadian penguins are doing since they were evicted from the North Pole after Russia seized it.

I am always looking forward to SOS. Who needs vacations when you can travel to scenic Louisville, visit with good friends but more importantly come home broke! And 2014 will be all the better as Brian makes his return.

Ok,,,guys...Call me MacArthur. I shall return! "old collectors never die they just fade away". Gus, I am not sure that I can safely bring "high test" Canuck suds on the plane. From past visits I do know that I can survive approx 4 days of Yankee "near beer". However, this does necessitate at least one week of recuperation when I get back to The Great White North. I think this time. I am also going to try a red wine supplement as a way of maintaining my body's customary alcohol levels! Yes I will be exchanging a number of my plastic bucks for real American money! Finally, yes I am at the Hilton airport with Joe et al.

Getting transportation, stuff and people in place. Have tables(3) hotel rooms and money ready to go. Looking forward to the usual suspects at the show even our absent Canadian Friend above. [-X
Jerry

Re Canuck high test suds.....looks like Caron and I will be driving down from Barrie (10 hrs) so I can bring down some "cans" with me. This saves $500 which can instead be spent on "stuff" We will probably leave around 4am so that we can cruise the show for a bit before it closes. I love the SOS because there are so many tables and lots of treasure to sift through! I began Caron's introductory course on "haube recognition" last night. We will be operating as a team, her scouting ahead while I plod along scouring every table for goodies.

10 hours, that is nothing it takes us about 13 hours, looking forward to seeing you.

Dig into your Retro beer memory, and find some Molson Brador, use to be in a Gold can....

What a bunch of whiners, it takes us between 30 and 40 hours to drive there depending on the weather.

By the way, in direct violation of Joe and Janet's contract with their publisher, they are going to have a book signing at SOS, remember to bring your copy of their book and bacon for Daisy. Hopefully, the book will be available at the publisher's table.

Yes James, I remember Brasdor. I don't think they make it anymore...it was 6% I believe. I'll bring some Molson Dry which is also 6%. BTW gentlemen.....I am retiring from teaching Jan 31/14. Thirty seven years in the trenches and over 54,000 students!. So, the SOS will be my first event as a civilian!

And no more excuses for not attending, as you are retired and live with in easy driving distance!
