SOS 2014

I'm getting another enlisted one. An enlisted reserve second Kürassier. They are the guys that fought at Halen. So somebody buy this one and make me an offer that will help me defray my costs! :-$ G

That helmet is a beauty Joe! :thumb up: What did you get that is replacing this one???

Got to stop spending all my money before I get there. by joerookery

I hear you Joe! Me too! :-" 8-[

I've been like a boy in a candy shop since September, with the $$$ burning a hole in my pocket every week. Seems that I keep finding too much stuff that I can't resist. It's been an amazing past 6-months for me. :)

All the Best,

Alan

You should save for the Haskell estate auction, Alan!!
Some of these may not go for cheap...

I wish SOS was this week... not only because I would be there but because the weather is going to get worse. It will be in the 50s this Saturday, which isn't bad, but it will be in the 20s from next Thursday to Saturday. Not the best move-in/move-out weather. The hall will be cold on Thursday morning I suspect.

It's the Centennial Year and time to thin-out the collection. I'll have lots of parts, some pointy topped hats and some flat-top hats, maybe even a brush topped hat. Buckles, belts and other debris will also cover my tables.

George,

Remember my very generous offer. I will gladly pay you for that Bavarian you bought years ago for what you paid for it +10%. The chances of me beating James off the blocks are slim. Know they're zero. I also looking forward to what you have to offer and I wish you most success and a warm trip. It does not look like the weather will be pleasant. So much for drinking mint Juleps on the balcony! =P~ =P~

Poop, I did not make it past Kansas City today, I guess I will have to stop at Liberty Memorial tomorrow:)

Just got home, made 3 nice quality helmet purchases I will share later. Had fun seeing Joe, Gus, Brian and Significant others. A good time was had by all. White knuckle drive home, but all is good.

Brian took many, many pictures he will post.

James

Glad you made it home OK James. Enid and I made good time back to Michigan... until the last 80 miles.

I can hardly wait until next year.

Nice to see you again Peter and thank you for the book. Good to hear you are home safe James. We lucked out on the drive, there was one area that was slushy and dangerous but that only lasted for 30 min. We are spending the night in Perrysburg OH. We will be at the SOS from now on...too much fun to miss.

This is so much more than a show. This is an annual social event. Brian only got a few of the people pictures. That is because he was always shopping. Good food good people good stuff. The big news of the show is that Randy is engaged! Many many deal were made because of relationships between people. As a result of relationships great price were offered. It is always nice to have more than one person look at your items. There was even a good show and tell Thursday night. Much beer was drunk. Much information was shared. Perhaps we should consider a big show and tell again on Friday night next year. Remy hey pizza but the rest of us love it. The wives/girlfriends are a big part of this. If you can make it at all next year make the effort. Ron stop whining and get going. Bruno I know you are always busy but take a flight! The weather was clear and cold this year but leaving was a weather challenge. I will post the helmet I bought shortly. But the silver one did not sell! Still available! Logjam on our book has been broken and it is available. Sold pretty well. Fantastic product. The French book was not offered anywhere. We looked. Might want to work a deal with Jeff Schrader or Larry Stewart.

A big thank you for everyone who made this a great year for us.

Just made it home, lots of fun. Brian helped load Joe's car, he dropped the case with Janet's Imperial German china, and Joe's helmet, the case broke open and Brian exclaimed "OMG, I broke a nail!!"
We had heavy rain from Louisville to the middle of Indiana, when it turned to freezing rain. We had black ice from there to Kansas and travel was 35 to 45 mph for 400 miles. For 150 miles through Missouri, there was an average of two cars off the road per mile, Kansas was dry roads but 30+mph cross winds. And the trip home would not be the same with out a blizzard in Wyoming.
I picked up a great helmet and two weapons of mass destruction, I will post photos as soon as I have a little time.
