Well friends, we have one more day at SOS 25 here in Louisville. James and I have been busy touring 2,000 tables of militaria, mostly WW2 German but we did see some Imperial gems! Our first photo is of a beautiful JR 115 officer helme purchased from A of K by member D M.

The details on the wappen are superb!

The helme has a killer Hessen officer kokarde and note the fine pointed tip on the spike.

For once, there are no issues with the ribbed silk liner. 👍
Congratulations DM!

Aside from A of K and Weitze, there were not a lot of hauben at the show.

$2,500US for a wartime Garde Officer with zinc fittings??

Of course, there was a reason why the prices on these wappen were so reasonable....most were missing their loops and screw posts! More to come...

Brian; Great photos, thanks for posting them! Any chance you remember the name of the dealer who was selling the shoulder straps?

I believe it was Wilhelm Steifensand.
Correct , the seller is Wilhelm S.
Part of His former collection
He is selling it all
most will be at auction in Germany later this year
The straps for sale at the S O S are a very small part
of his total collection
You mainly Field and Fuss Artillery
He has Infantry ; Cavalry and support troops as well
I think his only sales were at the show and at auction
Parts of the late Chip Minx collection were on display only
at the show .They will also be on auction later this year .

Another rare helmet purchased by one of our members at the Show.

A special Bavarian fibre helmet with M15 fittings. I have never seen one of these before! This is in amazing condition considering what it is made from. Note the cloth reenforcement stitched around the entire one piece shell.
IMG_3638.jpeg
IMG_3639.jpeg
No rear spine and one crack in the shell.
IMG_3640.jpeg
A nice thick original chin strap.
IMG_3641.jpeg
A nice complete "oil cloth" liner with original draw string! :)👍
