Spares and Cleaning (Pickelhaubes)

Can anyone advise on the colours of the cockades that would have been worn by an infantryman in 1912-13.
Prussian 1st Battalion? (JR 150) I have a very nice helmet with brass trim and wappen (Genuine) with a
few problems. One of the studs holding the spike is missing and I cannot find a replacement, and the inner
plate of the helmet is also missing. The crown is is really good condition as are the leather inners.

I would like to replace those small items with originals if I can find them. But I dont mind non genuine Cockades
and chinstrap.

Also what should I use to clean off nearly 100 years of brass gunge ?, it all looks like dull copper at present. I dont

Do not use Brasso! Go to Kaisers Bunker for cleaning tips.

Parts such as those come up on Ebay fairly frequently. There are a lot of "dug" parts from old battlefields being sold by Latvians. I would not buy these as the brass is all pitted and the split prongs break. I know this because I did buy one lot of such parts.
