Stacks of 'haubes and Russian POWs. Odd mix.

Leopoldsburg: Camp Beverloo (Kamp van Beverlo) is in the east of Belgium (Province of Limburg). The Military Training Area still excists. The Camp and Training Area was our playing ground when I was a kid. Picking up cases and bullets. Getting caught by the MP... 8-)...
Later: again to become my playing ground...

I know the old Barracks very well :D. I had the honor to sleep in the old Cavalry Camp. (Ruiterij Kamp). "It was as if Fritz slept there the night before".... Except that Fritz had a stove at his "Stube"in those days...

Kamp van Beverloo: Chosen by the first King of the Belgians-Leopold I- in 1831 as a Training Area-close to the Dutch border...and soon a small village started to grow "Leopoldsburg"; named after him. Yes in The "Far East" of Belgium.
Of course the Germans used the Camp during WWI and WWII.

Francis

Thanks for posting these photographs. I think this pretty much solves the mystery of the "B" collar insignia. Beverloo had been a guess, but this confirms not only that, but that it was worn by members of the "VII BAK Inf.-Ers.-Truppe Beverloo". :thumb up:

Looks that the pillars (collumns) once had been covered with wood at the base.
Long gone in the stoves of the stuben I bet.
Great pics. Thank you.
