I know nothing about these kinds of helmets, but I have been told that this kind of helmet is relatively unusual. Allegedly the ears are cut out?

Hey Joe, is that image dated, it looks like Reichswehr to me, the ear cut out helmet did not show up until late 1918.

Cutts, "Halbmondformig", for better earing.

You can see more here :

I had bookmarked that picture but missed it. Glad you got it!

This is actually a "Brotbeutel"-strap (used to carry the "bread bag") but it was also used to camouflage helmets in the 1930s. This is the first picture of its use on the cut-out helmet I saw. Normally the strap should be fastened at the sides, but perhaps the ear cut-outs prevented this.

If you dont mind using a translator, here is a nice site about the helmet itself:

That is quite an understatement!

. Gus, the back of the card is completely blank. I am overwhelmed with postcards.

My high school kid who has been scanning postcards goes to college in two weeks. He is not done yet. :-({|= :-({|= :crybaby: :crybaby:

Maybe you could slip an aspirin in his school bag and get him expelled for a couple of months.
