Sword Identification Help

I have had this sword for several years and always thought that it was a Dragoon sword.



It has a shark skin wrapped Dragoon style handle:



And a common WKC marker's mark:



The one thing that has always confused me about this sword is that it has a Kurassier helmet and Kurass clearly engraved on the blade:



Could this model sword have been used by Kurassiers, or was the engraving just a standard type that was put on all engraved swords?

I believe it is a model 1852 Prussian mounted troops sword. But sword aren't my interest and I'm sure others here can give you more info.
 
The style of the guard and pommel is typical Saksen i have somewhere a book of German swords i had to look it up.
 
That is absolutely an M1852/79 Kavalerie officer's sabre.

Carried by all Husaren, Dragoner, and Ulanen officers. It is based on the issue M1852/79 Kavalerie issue sabre but is considerably lighter and better made. See #13 and keep these images for reference.

I have a beautiful one that I am going to let go. Tony

Thanks everybody. I guess that it could be Prussian or Saxon judging by the article Tony enclosed.
Would this sword ever have been used by Kurassier or is it just a "standard" etching on the blade?

It is M1852/79 Kavalerie sabre but not for officer's. It is the one for enlisted men, private purchaised. Train battaillon.The differens to officer is Drahtwicklung. Don’t know how that is called in english.
Never used by Kurassier.
 
Pallash for heavy Cav. Am I correct? Straight blade. Made to thrust, not to slash.
Heavy Cav had bigger horses and riders (Prussian cuirassiers used cuirass the in the field till 1888) launched to bang and break into enemy lines. There are pictures of French Cuirassiers wearing the cuirass in August 1914 !

Yes, officers had Drahtwicklung which is the wire wrapping around the grip. Otherwise, identical.

It is not a completely straight blade, it has a slight curve. It is not what I would call a Pallash. There is no wire wrapping on the handle so it is an enlisted sword.
