There is a wartime photo with a Tommy and a helmet with a spike. Its all real just put together after the war to put on the Mantlepiece. I suspect. Rob
 
I've seen several of these type helmets over the years where someone has created something fantastical while interesting to see what someone's imagination comes up with, they are not for me.

I do know someone who collects the colorful camo helmets painted up after the war for US Soldiers to bring home as souvenirs.
