I recently wrote a quick piece on the bicycle's role in World War I:

But you forgot to mention our "Schwartze Teufels »; a nickname the Belgian first cyclist battalion got by the German's in august 1914.
Because of they accurency and speed in skirmish warfare.
 
Besides one book I think called "Bicycles at War," there's been sadly little written on this subject. I /think/ I have a Norfolk jacket from a reserve cyclist battalion of a British regiment, can't recall which as my collection is now boxed up, but since there's never been anything on them as far as I know, I'll likely never be sure. I'll post pictures when it arrives.
