I've finally started reading Jack Sheldon's latest book that concerns the experiences of the German army during the 1915 battles in the Champagne, Ypres, Neuve Chapelle, Artois and Argonne. Using many unpublished sources and eyewitness accounts, Sheldon provides a gripping account about how individual German soldiers lived through the main French and British assaults in 1915. I've just completed the first chapter that deals with the winter battles in the Champagne. Unfortunately, many of the places which are described in this chapter are nowadays not open to the public because these former battle fields are located on a military site. Overall, this book is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in the other side of the wire
