After having received the catalog from Verlag Militaria, I decided to order The German Infantry from 1871 to 1914. With 864 pages and 2100 pics and illustrations this seems a very nice reference work. Moreover, its also available in English which is most important to me as I don't speak German or French.

Regards,

Edwin

Have you received it yet? Are you happy with it? I've been considering ordering it, but I am concerned that headgear (and especially pickelhauben) might be only a very small proportion of the content, and I am never going to collect the rest of the uniforms and equipment.

I'm happy with it. I wouldn't say very small. But it is not only concerned with headgear. I like the book – one volume – on the German army better. But we are picking nits.

I have not received my copy yet. Indeed, this book has a somewhat broader focus because it deals not only with headgear but uniforms as well. Despite the fact that I will probably never collect uniforms, I am not only interested in headgear. Hence, my choice for this book. I'll gladly share my opinion after I have received it.

Best regards,

I received my copy today and I am already impressed by the sheer weight of the two volumes as well as their content. The high resolution pictures of the headgear, uniforms and equipment are absolutely outstanding.

Edwin
