Big bucks for a well-known copy.
 
I asked if the lettering was cut out or embossed and got an answer. It was my way of alerting people that the difference might mean something. Didn't seem to work.
 
You know I have one that is laying around here somewhere. Randy gave it to me free. Maybe I could sell it for $400?? But then I would have to live with myself.
 
Hey Joe,
Why don't you list it on e-bay, with a $600 starting price, and discribe it accuratly as a fake from the 1970s that was given to you for free by an honest dealer. What better way to educat ebay buyers and expose the fake, and if you sell it, you can buy something nice.

A lot of the bidders just don't seem to get it.
It's not uncommon for people to insist that the fakes are actually good items, while pointing out they've been collecting X number of years.

I agree, and it seems that for some collectors this results in something like tunnel vision... That's why my wife always insists that I seek advice here when I consider to purchase another haube :D
