The only Imperial helmet without a Wappen?

Assuming that all Imperial German helmets, of all forms, are in the catagory of "Pickelhauben", then I believe that this is the only one that does not have a Wappen (front plate) of any sort. It is my June update.

Can you guess?

Here it is >> http://www.kaisersbunker.com/dunkelblau/helmets/dbh55.htm

Wow! Wherer did you find that? Nice example and I have never seen a shako one before! Made of fibre! The other maneuver helmets I have seen are made of cork. This one from Kube's last auction is cork made and the "wappen" is made of paper-mache.

This other cork job from 2 Kube's ago is also cork. Its "wappen" is painted on.

Nice example even if it is an evil shako.

You must exclude the Stahlhelm for your statement to be correct, unless you count the Stirnpanzer as a Wappen.

ps, I do not mean to detract from your beautiful Sachsen Tschako!

Whoops! I stand corrected. Interesting to see that the Pickelhaube version Joe was also a maneuver helmet. For Sachsen officer's, I assume the Manöver Tschako was made to resemble the OR's in the field. Mannschaften wore a black oilcloth cover over the Tschako when in the field to protect the felt and cloth Tschako from rain. R1 is fortunate to have one that (naturally) I covet. So the officer Manöver Tschako was was made completely from oilcloth so the high-quality one would not have to be worn in the field. Make sense?

The Manöver Pickelhaube I remember now from Kube. Interesting, that would be a Landsturm Ersatz would it not?

Gus, you are correct, I meant the catagory of "Pickelhauben" when I mean "helmets". Not of course the Stahlhelm.

Stirnpanzer as a Wappen! :blackeye: That would be the record for the "heaviest" Wappen!

Tony: Really great and unusual shako. Had I not hesitated the piece would be on my shelf instead of yours. Enjoy it. I doubt many of those survived.

Here is another maneuver helm from the same Bremen cork maker. I put the liner in the officer liner thread.
Where did you find the shako?

Thathelmet came out of the Balkans in the 1950's. Sergio owned it for a while. I wanted it but could not decipher the wappen. So like R1 on your shako I paused. I now understand the wappen and it was my door to trying to understand Landsturm. It is now in a good collection.

Here is another saxon?!?! cork marked to 100R ?!?!?! I doubt 190. No wappen and look at the spike base.

Very very interesting helmets! This forum is really an ocean of knowledge. I knew that such helmets did exist but I never seen some pics of these. And you probably know what is my first question: Did you seen some uhlans "manöver" tschapkas like that? I'm very curious about this question because. I know that these manöver light tschapkas did exist and especially for the officiers but I've never seen any picture. Thanks all for these precious informations and these nice pictures.

Fantastic Shako t. I have never seen one like this before. The cork helmets seem to be opening another area for exploration. Joe remember the officers' one at the SOS? I think he wanted $7000 for it. Brian

Yes indeed it is the first one I posted in this thread. Ended up at Kube. for 3800 Euros and did not sell. Kube also had that seller's 94th. Kube pulled it once Kaiser Bill asked him to look at the back of the plate.

I saw a cork Prussian OR helmet last Saturday. Rear visor and a section of the rear of the korpus was shattered inside the canvas. Dealer was asking $1500.00.
