The Pondfarm

I was in contact with a friend who was on the farm awhile back and gave me some info to follow up .There is a Brittish Military Cemetary off the Farm? He seems to remember ,croosing the field on a path ,to get to it .He seems to remember the cemetary ,as not a commonly visited one .
He traced a Relative of an officer in my regiment who was killed in 1915 in the Brittish Army ,Machine Gun Corps .

As for me, I AM JEALOUS :x I have to live in a place where absolutely NO military action took place EVER. I guess the good thing is that that still holds true today, and it is safe here. BUT so is western Europe (well, most of it, anyway) Wish I could live there and pick up things from the war :(

For the "mysterious objects", i would need to see #3 up closer. It could be a washer, but if there is any details, there WERE coins made with holes in them in WWI-II, so they wouldn't be lost as easily.

In August 1917 the Germans started using a new type of gas ,it was fired in a shell , this new gas ( I believe Green Cross II ) was a gas that would seem like an irritant ,but would do more damage than all other gasses then all other,s . The Canadian's expierienced Gas again there in the Fall section of the third Battle of Ypres .It was a chemical night mare for both sides as gas was used to harrass assembling of troops and counter battery fire.
I see they opened up the 19th Mine set for messines ridge . A farmers tractor fell through the opening. .Looks like they are trying to empty the mine.

I have heard the people of Belgium and Frnce are REALLY NICE.
Stijn the object with the hole looks lie either a Zeltbahn or Ground sheet gromet or eyelet.
Watch what you pick up .That area is one of the largest areas of unexploded ordnance ,In Europe. PLEASE be Careful
Ask Cliff N about the trip he had to europe and the 2 Brittish Officers who went Exploring ,Only 1 came out alive.

pierre the German first used a Letheal form of Phosgene , there . it showed up in Shell form , it's effect to a common soldier looked like mild chlorine . That was only an irritant , the gass they ussed actually was a fatal gas and had a delayed effect , it also would hang around for days in an area of flat ground , not just holes trenches and dugout's . This area was heavily covered in gas attacks by bothh the Germans and BEF troops in 1917 . The gas was mainly aimed at batteries of artillery ,to slow there crews and rate's of fire.
I had asked in the Latest finds section about the dressing station ,on the map. If it is the one I think it is it will help me pin point where your farm is and actions that took place there.

Still have some pins here for you. try this forum if you do not get an answer here . it has more of a brittish research base. They seem to pin point most unit's.
