The Ultimate Pickelhaube Collectible!!

And then you think you have seen it all, look at these "lamps" at Christie's New York, some years ago.

Phew...

It was (well part of it was) in a large box on the porch when I got home..., before the 'Little Lady" arrived. Even the dog barked at it.

It was quickly whisked away into the morass of the basement shop where it has so far gone unnoticed even after being opened and set up. A good sign. The seller had free shipping included, thus the long delay.

Well..... I guess there is good and bad news. It is still pretty cool. But looking at the spike that has been drilled through the top is a bit heart-rending. But standing back..., yeah, it is pretty cool. The ugly shade and finial are still on the way, somewhere.

Looks like a restoration is in order.... and I'll post some photos as it comes apart. I'm not sure if some of the base pieces are pickelhaube parts or not. Someone sure put a fair amount of work and 'creativity' into it. It has been rewired, but the socket is from the late teens to '20s.

Well Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of us who live to Collect another day!

- Mike

Oh my..., I thought that was for the whole lot, but the prices are per lamp. Well, minus shipping costs mine was under $200, so I'm not feeling so bad. However, those are super lamps..., 'er helmets..., 'er Helmet Lamps!!

Now, recommendations for a shade???

Best regards!
