The wonder disk

Hey Joe, I see Col. Sweetness got top billing, I want one inscribed too! Are you going to have these done in time for SOS? That would be a great venue to get some on the market.
Gus

Thanks, Just the cover done. Rest should be behind shortly. I expect 2-3 months. Maybe shorter. It is going well. I do not intend to sell any from my site or directly. Perhaps I need to rethink books for our friends. There will be a site to buy from as well as Amazon etc. I will bring a box to SOS and will put an ad in Military Trainer. Still have not set a price point but think high 20s. Paperback 8.5x11.

The tome goes slow but the amazing news is I just won another flag catalog! This one has medals too.

What's the rush Joe? Take your time and do it right. You out-bid me on these catalogues, so now you can do all the work! :evil4: I know I am looking forward to obtaining a copy. :grommit: T

Take your time and do it right

It has been launched. I'm not sure what right is. This is just a reprint with little intro. No captions. I am positive that all sorts of people will have negative things to say. It is a learning deal for us and we are happy to share our good fortune on research. Muller is fun .... scans could be better but Neumann is amazing.
Given the bleeding problems with the scans they look darn good compared to the first effort. Time will tell!

E-mail me and I will supply you with some appropriate responses for people who do nothing but complain about other people's work, especially when it is a selfless act of altruism such as what you're doing for the benefit of others. =D> Better yet, complaints deserve no response. Let them complain, I know I will enjoy your hard work and I thank you.

Hi Joe,

"...It has been launched...."

Congratulations!

When do you expect to have them available for on-sale?

I know that I am not alone in telling you I can hardly wait to see it.

Cheers,

Laurie

Very exciting Joe and Janet! A great contribution to the hobby. This will help us all. There better be a copy with my name on it at the next SOS.
All the best, Brian

We are now about 2 weeks away. Not printed yet. You can order them from Authorhouse for $28.99. We will probably take 50-100 to SOS. List price is $31.99 and we will do a show special maybe with a $5 coupon for pickelhaubes members. Or something ...hey they will probably come out all smudged and upside down but it has been fun.

Neumann & Müller Imperial German Military Catalogues: A Resource for Collectors and Historians

The book is now available for purchase from the publisher. We have still not seen a hard copy of the book. It will be available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble's and other booksellers in a matter of weeks. The cost from the publisher, AuthorHouse, $28.99 and is three dollars less than the retail price. The ISBN is 1425938760 .

I have been swamped in the last 24 hours with e-mails about this book. I am not selling them. The publisher is selling them and you can buy directly from them. I’m not trying to be rude or standoffish, but I haven’t even seen a hard copy of the book yet. So I’m trying to put this out in a couple of forums in an effort to direct people the correct way. You can go to my web site www.pickelhauben.net there is a link there on the front page to the publisher and you can order it directly.

Pretty high praise.
Publishers blurb.
This is a reprint of two military effects catalogs from Imperial Germany. Historians and collectors will be amazed at what was offered for private purchase. From medals to swords to horse furniture to guns and spiked helmets, page after page has amazing detail. The width of Müller and the detailed depth of Neumann make these absolutely invaluable. Much of what is reprinted here has never been offered before. Discoveries in the Neumann catalog have revolutionized some thoughts about Imperial German collecting. This is a wonderful trip to the time of Kaiser Wilhelm II before WWI, and a must have resource.

We received copies of the book today. Printing is fine. My first impression is that the book is big. 8.5 x 11". Tony originally suggested making a larger version of the book. The publisher insisted that the smaller pages need pictures on this size of page. The result is a slightly larger picture than the original page. Clear and easier to read. I think this is well worth it. 205 pages.

Got my copy today, there is stuff in this that you can not find anywhere else, better hurry, I hear the they are selling very fast, the last report was that the sales numbers are in the four figures area.

On page 24 (Müller catalogue) at the lower right of the page, you could buy an electric light to clip onto your razor so you could shave in the dark with out cutting yourself, only 3 Mark. This is very interesting, and I thought that high priced stupid stuff like this was a mark of our times (like a gas powered blender to mix drink while camping)
