I had seen the helmet in person. It is original but as mentioned by stuka, it is not R16

I have spoken to the owner and claim that this is the correct composition, which I cannot find on the internet or in the books, perhaps I do not have the right book

Regarding the "Splinten" comment.....the neusilber fittings are nickel plated over brass. After 100+ years of polishing and use these often show the brass underneath. In fact, brass is showing through the cruciform spike base on the Oldenburg Dragoner DR19 helmet which is my avatar! This helmet is in my collection and I have owned it for 40 + years. It was like that when I first bought it. This could be the reason why these splinten look incorrect.
