There is a lot to learn from an old postcard …

It doesn't get better than that. Having photographic provenance for a helmet you own.
The best, of the best, of the best!

No objections Joe, this mark can also be found on sabers and daggers.

I wonder … could a civilian walk in that shop and order something?

I am positive that they could. As you know, many of these were given as gifts. As the officer corps were at best an impoverished group civilian purchase would be a great conduit. Also if you look at the story of the captain of Köpeckne he purchased his entire wardrobe from a secondhand shop.

Yes, DRESDEN-N. for Dresden-Neustadt.

The adress was "Neustädter Markt", the place of the gold monument of "August der Starke".

And today :o The Hast and Uhthoff house was behind the white bus....

Wow that’s great Philippe, now that we have the exact coordinates we can set the time machine :thumb up:

Can’t wait to see the look upon their faces when I tell them what a Garde Reiter costs nowadays.

Great to have that photographic evidence to support your helmet! Unfortunately....was that building bombed to pieces in WW2?
