there must also be criticism

I'd like to get my anger off my chest.
For the second time, I've been very disappointed by collectors in the forum. If we're going to agree to a purchase or exchange, it would be nice to stick to it. That goes beyond reserving a piece for several months. I won't be upset if you change your mind or don't get the agreed amount together. I certainly understand that. But not getting in touch again, and not receiving a response even after inquiries, I find disrespectful or dubious. Since it's happened again, I've decided not to sell anything to the USA anymore. The exception, of course, is these collectors with whom I've built a good relationship.
Should I be wrong in my criticism, I look forward to any feedback.

Very sorry to read about your bad experiences. Something like this is really very disrespectful and disappointing.
But I can also report positive impressions. I have traded with forum members several times. Even bought something for other forum members at my expense and then sent it out into the world, or vice versa. Never had any problems and the communication was always courteous and friendly. However, I must say that these always were long-time forum members who actively support the forum and keep it alive with their posts.
I like this forum especially because it is the only place on the internet (at least I don't know of any other) where people treat each other in a friendly and respectful way and where people talk to each other at eye level, without treating others from above for asking what they think are stupid questions. Dishonorable and respectless beavior should have no place here (or elsewhere).
Hopefully the forum member you were talking about will contact you and apologize. That would show some greatness and perhaps you can resolve the matter sensibly after all 🙏

I fully agree with you Sandy. It is exactly the reason why I am still a long time member here, a friendly forum where everybody is like a long time friend is, somebody you know for a long time. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers, but you never see that here. What I do hope, is that it stay's that way. So doing a deal, and not even replying or send a message why the deal is taking a bit longer, is indeed disrespectful.

SO sorry to hear, being a long, long-time member of this forum, I have never had an issue with anyone in U.S. or overseas on buying or selling.

Please do not give up on us in the U.S.

If there is anyone in particular, please let me know and I can talk to Brian about it!

Best

James

I've only ever had great experiences on this forum and that goes for the classified section as well.

One fine gentleman even did some fantastic sewing work on a few prized possessions for which I'm forever grateful. (y)(y)

I'm also very sorry and more than a bit surprised to hear of any wrongdoing.

Very disappointing (n)

A few bad apples can ruin it for a lot. Am I missing the connection to this particular seller and deciding to stop selling to a certain country? Especially a country where with an English speaking forum, a great many members reside?

I empathize with your frustration. It is totally up to you with whom you engage in a business relationship with.

In many shops/restaurants/businesses here in America you will find signs stating their rights of the owners of said businesses:

"We Reserve The Right to Refuse Service to Anyone. "

That is your right as well.(y)

Best Regards,

I have purchased several nice items from Reiner and I can confirm that Reiner is a true Gentleman. Reiner is one of the few collectors I trust completely, and he always agrees to take back any piece I don't want to keep.

See you soon Reiner

As a US member who has purchased from Reiner, I could not agree more. He's one of the best. 👍

First of all, thank you very much for the great response from the members. And of course, the praise from my—what should I call them? buying partners? collector friends? I can't find the right word. When I actually think I've found more friends in the forum than disappointments, I find Justin's post very encouraging. Unfortunately, I can't undo my post. Just forget it. I'll remain loyal to you.

The post can be removed by you if you chose to.
but I see no need to
It is good for other members to find out that some
do not follow up on a deal
