Did somebody polish the grey paint off of the wappen or were they also issued like this one?

Thanks.

Peter

Easy to determine, as old fraudster's trick was to polish grey Wappens to a bright steel. I had a friend Jim Godefroy (RIP Jim) who had a magnet on a stick and would reach it through the table crowd over to so-called 'Pioneer' helmets and the magnet would stick, which won't happen of course to a M95 Wappen which is Neusilber (nickel silver). So yes, polished by someone. Why bother with this helmet Peter? You would basically be buying a helmet shell as the Wappen is ruined, and the critical parts you mentioned are copies that are very tough to find. It would be much less frustrating to look for an original complete example.

To your other question, M15 fitting were not painted >>> https://www.kaisersbunker.com/pe/m1915.htm
