Thuringen EM.

Hi Mikey,
Overall, the helmet looks OK to me, but I do not know enough to be able to comment on each feature, but the seller fits the catagorie of one that you should be able to trust, ie only on negative feedback (I can not really understand the problem) no hidden feedback and no hidden bidder's IDs. He could be selling if for someone else. After a second look, why is the rear peak underside black? And notice that the brass edge is away from the front peak, (the seller points this out, but you have top look clos to see it)

Hello Mickey.
Not easy to say: pictures are not very neat. National cockade seems to be repainted? What's applied on the inside of the helmet on the spike base? JL LARCADE wrote me one day "never buy an helmet from a rare regiment if there are no regimental markings"... Markings are not always present but it's better when there is one! A better picture from the plate and from her rear side will helps!

I agree with Timp. No markings on an issue helmet for a rare regiment. Patina on Brass wappen looks different. But what is that where the spike support is? Caution Will Robinson.

Hi Temp_be,
I would guess that the reason the rear peak underside is blackend would be to cover up markings that would not match the "history" of the helmet?
Gus
ps Spikey Mikey tells me you collect Belgian, do you have any late WWI Belgian kit?

Hello Gus,

What do you mean with "kit" (my english is not very good...). I'm only collecting headgears.
Sorry Timp,
Kit refers to the entire uniform, equipment, headgear and weapons. I will post my Belgian under Uniforms if you would critique it for me.
Best wihses

Thanks for the feedback fella's. Both cockades look repainted to me and one other thing that seems odd is the plain, un-dyed liner on an M95 style helmet. Is that weird or not? I cant recall seeing anything un-dyed apart from on M15's? I thought that they blackened the interior sometimes to conceal the unit marks etc but this looks wrong to me with that leather grain showing. I wonder if this is a re-build job that will go for a lot of dough?
