Tientsin 1905

Wow, great picture! I wonder who he is? Not every officer wears an Order like that at his throat... can anyone identify the order...

The helmet says he must be with the East Asians... but possibly visiting royalty or something with that order. The tunic with Litzen must be the East Asian Gesellschaftsrock... very curious...

Cheers
Chris

There is no doubt that the medal is the double Dragon order from China. However as that came in so many grades I do not know which one.

Thanks Joe, that explains the East Asian with it then... didn't know they earned Chinese medals though! Always learning...

Cheers

Re Joe's Chinese group pic...received this reply at Axis History Forum.

cn110:

这不是警察。这是1896年江苏的“新军”,又叫“自强军”。1896年因德国教员生活不习惯,迁到上海吴淞训练。照片可能是这个时期拍的。三年后,德国教练合同期满回国。

This is not police. This was in 1896 Jiangsu “the new armed forces”, called “from the strengthening of the armed forces”. because in 1896 the German teachers lived are not familiar with, move to the Shanghai Woosung train. The picture possibly is this time shoots. Three years later, German coach term of contract has expired returning to homeland.
