Beautiful collection I really love the Belgian Calvary Helmet with the Lion always hoping to find one of those.

Those collections of German Swords as well as the early guns and Bayonets are just incredible. Are there any storys behind those like where they came from or were taken.

Thanks for sharing it looks like you had a wonderful day. (y)

And some ultra rare Belgian Cav busbies.

Indeed, excellent displays. Sadly no further details in the captions. Sure there will be some war trophies. The Belgian Cuirassier lionhead M1843-1863 helmet is super cool.

Francis

I visited the museum last year. I was really impressed. The collection is really nice and of high quality. It's partly focused on the (medieval) Military history of Tournai but the biggest part is WW1 and also a part WW2. I liked it more than the museum at Mons, which had obviously more money thrown at it but the collection was less interesting.

Be sure to visit the nearby cemetery which has the first and last commonwealth soldier killed in the war. It's a very beautiffully mixed graveyard with German and British graves.

There is a video on You-tube about the first, and last commonwealth soldiers killed in the war at Mons.

Another video, which came out 18 hours ago on-line, about the Saint-Symphorien cemetery at/near Mons, which contains the graves of the first and last fallen Commonwealth soldiers of the great war @Khukri , you might want to visit it too, when you visit Mons.
