In last night's premiere of Dowton Abbey the fireman wore a helmet similar to this base but it did not look as bad. This was sold!

I wonder about the sale for so much. It's maybe a stage piece that somebody recognized from a show? I dunno, looks like the wappen was taken from one of those toy helmets that come up once in a while.
Joe, you're thinking of the Merryweather (sp?) helmets from the Victorian /Edwardian eras and they're very nice if you can find an original. There are also some good, but not great, replicas for sale.
