Greetings All!

Here is a rather attractive tschapka:

A very thorough set of pictures.

Any serious warts?

Cheers,

Laurie

Hi Laurie,
I doubt this one will linger at 19 Euro for lang, to me everything looks good, and the seller has been around for some time with 99.9% feedback,
Gus

Hi guys,

Thanks. Just to be clear, I am not in the market.

Thanks, though, you have confirmed my instincts. I was particlularly taken with the way the shadow of the rabatte is clear on the underside of the mortarboard top - see the photo where he has peeled the rabatte away from the mortarboard.

If I was to critcize one point on this piece, it appears that the area behind the wappen had been overcleaned as I don't notice any ghosting in any of the photos. I'll ask him for a photo of the area behind the badge.

For the record, I have dealt with Heiko Fuchs in the past and he was always straight with me.

Cheers,

Laurie

Hi Max, tu ma beaucoup manque aussi mon ami!
Merci pour les information - I really like that and I will try to get it maybe.
What do you think of the price of it? I cant get the pictures to work to see it close up but it looks good.

How are you doing Max? Dont be such a stranger!

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi friends,

Very happy to have time to discuss again with you. The past times were a bit difficult for me because of too much work and no money enough. I'd to sell almost the half part of my collection but some of my nicest helmets are gone to some respectable and fellow collectors like Erzatz Boy. I want now to collect only prussian Uhlans tschapkas from 1862 (i hoppe one day 1843) to 1917. I read today all your topics and I'm very happy to see that our forum is really alive and became in more than twoo years THE international reference for haubes collecting. It's the best souvenir to Larcade or Lainé that we can do. I'll try to be more present for the next time. And don't forget guy, let me know if you see a little prussian tschapka homeless

Hey Gus, I just sold two so I'm in the running!
Woohoo!! keep it up, and do not for get to set aside a bit for two tickets to SOS
Gus

I certainly will Gus. Both went to American buyers at the recent New York art fair at the Armory. This Tchapka's going to go for upwards of £2.5k surely?

Heiko came through with a set of photos of the wappen and the helmet area behind the wappen:

Oh how I wish I could chase this helmet!

I don't think it has ever been outside its Helmkoffer. This one is a real museum piece.

There you go guys.

Cheers,

Laurie

I dont think I'll bother, it's already escalatinglike mad. I think it's stratman territory. That visor is'nt coming unstitched at the sides is it?

Good to have you back Max. It is bad when work interferes with collecting. Mikey, the recent expansion of your art into the US market demands that you attend the next SOS. We also need Annie to come as she can entertain us with "Life with the Atrtiste" stories. Brian

It's more a case of 'life with her family' - that would be more entertaining. Much more so than my life of studios full of naked women and cafes.
Brian, as one guitar player to another did you hear that Gary Moore recently sold his 1959 Les Paul Sunburst (the Peter Green guitar) for £350k? He's being sued by some Germans.

For me, this tschapka's suddenly been overshadowed by the Morrissey Promo single on ebay at the moment for £3k. Anyone here dig the Moz?

And talking of Tschapka's - how come no-one spotted this 'beauty' 6612502291 at only $600?? [-X
