I don't think it is real either. It was probably cut down and then buried to help hide all sorts of sins.

agreed - I thought the front edge was finished on them.

Possibly but the front is rolled over or back .
Not just cut off.
But $5500 is quite high.

I PMed the guy and said it was Turkish and he said that he knew that, but it was called a tanker's helmet .
So that is why he is calling it that.
