Two Older Hessian 115's

Hello James,
Magnificent helmets, extremely rare.
Just a little clarification, it was only on 11 March 1849 that the Grand Duke of Hesse decided to equip his 4 infantry regiments with the Prussian M42 spiked helmet. This helmet is therefore a Hessian M49.
Another small detail that needs to be checked:
At 115, the 1621 banner was not added until 1871... No problem for the M67, but the M1849 should no longer have this appearance after the Franco-Prussian war.

Your early helmet "1621 " is brass / gilt trimCelui qu'Amy a posté aujourd'hui est en argent/nickelpourquoi et quelle est la différence ??
In 1849, the Grand Duke of Hesse adopted the ‘Prussian’ spiked helmet for his 4 infantry regiments. The fittings were made of brass-tombac.
In 1871, he granted the banner with the date of creation of his Leib-Regiment, i.e. ‘1621’.
In 1897, the Grand Duke ordered a new helmet for his Leib-Regiment. It was the new 1895 ‘Prussian’ model, but the tip remains cruciform and fluted. The fittings were in silver nickel silver (as for the other Gardists of the other Länder). On this new M97 helmet of the LIR 115, the trimmings are in silver nickel silver, the lion has a double branch crown and the star to the order of Louis the Lion has been added to the centre.
