Ulanka.

Hello all, long time no speak for various reasons - the lack of internet access being a big one.

I hope you are all well and had a great summer.

I found this in England about six weeks back when Chas payed a visit and I was wondering exactly what you guys could tell me about it. It seems genuine but I'm not very familiar with these things. It's in pretty good nick but no shoulderboards and one or two buttons seem to have been changed.

Sorry about the long absence and the quality of the pictures.

I'll try to post some more soon.

Cheers,

Mike.

It appears to be a M-1907/10 private purchase ulanka for UR1 through UR4, based on the red piping and brass buttons. For Prussian uhlans, the piping on the shoulder straps/boards would follow the seniority color order of white, red, yellow and blue, then start over again. From the photos it looks nice...

Hey Mike,
Welcome back, Joe was worried about you and now he has gone AWOL, he claims that he is leading an invasion of Canada, but I think he is on the lamb from the law.
Best wishes
Gus

What may not be apparent in Mike's photos is the cloth is an extremely high quality wool gabardine.

I thought is was super nice when examining it at the shop in Colchester.

Has it been six weeks?

Chas.
