Unbelieveable

This has got to be, without a doubt, the absolute dumbest reproduction I have ever seen!

John :-P

It's a repro of a repro. In the 1960's they sold a fake spike helmet in the back of men's magazines and comic books. It was a kit that you put together. The body of the helmet was vacuum formed plastic and the metal fittings were plated pot metal castings. This appears to be on of the chin straps. Believe it or not the kit wasn't that much cheaper than an actual helmet went for at the time. I still have one and if I can I'll post a photo.

I would love to see a photo of that!!!
What years did they sell those? I don't remember seeing ads for such things in the late 50's, early 60's.
I do remember ads for Nazi helmets, repainted with decals, for $25.00 in Modeler magazines.

Please post a photo.

John :o

Hope this works, I switched from Photo Bucket to Flickr and this is my first try.

Here is the image of the helmet I got this one around 1965. The front visor guard was not part of the kit, but something I added.

Ok got the photo to post - just have to work out the size business.

Very interesting! I have never seen one before.

I have often wondered what I missed that generated such an overwhelming interest in
Pickelhauben that soooo many reproductions were manufactured. Was there a point in
time when everybody just HAD to have a Pickelhaube?

What urged someone to manufacture these?:

There must have been some supply and demand issue or nobody would have wasted their time???

John :?

I have one of those plastic ones too, but it doesn't have the visor trim. Mine was given to me by a student. It's great for an uberzug.

Never seen the like....rates right up there with today's Indian productions.
