Under collections - not just Pickelhaubes?

I am not advanced or knowledgable enough about pickles and helmets so hoping one day I can purchase from a reliable source. In the meantime I am trying to expand the 'pointy end'. Here are some photos of the 'collection' but details feature in the ARMS section. MG08 first.

I was lucky enough many years ago to do a trade with an international museum and picked up 2 relatively rare skeleton DP instructional 08 and 08/15.

Quite rare wooden 08/15 for drills and training. They have a 'capture' history documented by a Belgian museum.

I think there are quite a few 08s and 08/15s still in the States, either live fire or dummy guns. Of cse condition is a factor but as with everything the accessories are the challenge. I suspect in the US the vast majority of accessories are in private hands, especially with rules on import/export. Sadly as time moves on whole collections surface and then are dispersed once again. For the live firers it must be even more difficult as parts become worn/broken and so difficult to replace.

When you consider how 'valuable' wood must have been for fires, large transit boxes are hard to find. The spades are the specific to machine gunner pattern, often seen with one sharpened edge as a raiding/trench weapon.

Lars no problem. Glad to be of interest but believe me I am far from having all the 'critical' accessories. Inevitably items made with canvas/ersatz/leather for example and that were designed for front line use/service are by now save a few examples all rotten/disintegrated/long gone. But the search continues............:)
