This is my latest addition, a uniform of a sailor of the S.M.S. LOTHRINGEN. It is a put together grouping, but makes a nice representation in the lineup. I would have rather had a uniform of the EMDEN, but I suspect it would be easier to get one of the Kaiser's uniforms. A couple of postcards are coming from Europe to add to the display.

A couple of additions to the SMS Lothringen display, first is a photo of a sailor of the SMS Lothringen with presumably his sister and brother.

Next is a postcard of the SMS Lothringen.

It is a used card sent by Masch. Maat Julius Koehly, to his mother (Frau Julius Koehly)
On the front he comments about the lack of amenities, although he is not stationed on the SMS Lothringen, as he is in the Werft Division (Harbour division).

I have been able to transcribe 80% of the back, it is the standard card home, saying he received the letter yesterday and the card today. He says he will write a big letter tomorrow, and tells of a comrade in the hospital.

Gus,

Nice navy items! Were the bottoms part of the set? My pair has the drop-down front flap like the blue wool trousers. I'm also curious about the cap. How is it marked?

Thanks,
Chip

Hey Chip,
The trousers in the above photo are army, I have recently acquired a pair of the correct trousers from Johan. The material is much different in the Army trousers than the navy.
The cap is marked BAW 9. ?. 09. The set was advertized as a put together set, and the cap and Halsknoten are the key parts in my opinion.

Here is a photo of the uniform with the correct trousers, and a bit of equipment.

I attended the UGCA show in Ogden Utah over the week end and set up a display of German uniforms and equipment, and managed to take first place in the judging (which is actually second as there is a grand prize as well)

Heckuva great display. I agree with James this would make a great addition to the table. We just need to put a not for sale sign on it just so that I have about 10,000 less questions. Even the dog is getting tired of answering them.
