It looks like someone took a reichs cockade for a feldmutze and a #4 from a shoulder board and slapped them onto the back half of a saxon wappen or something like that.

That's definitely it you should win a prize. (y)

I have to give it to them that is very creative and actually looks pretty neat, what a way to fill a glaring void.

Hello Bob,
M91 helmet (post side chinstrap) purchased privately (not supplied by the army). Officer-style perlring tip, but troop-style round rivets. The frontal sunburst is of the type ‘étoile aux armes municipales’ for firefighters or police. Yes, the centre is missing. To make a ‘fancy’ helmet for year-olds, the front star would have to be replaced by a Prussian eagle, or by a military plate.

Yes, even if you add a Prussian eagle or a military front plate, it's still a privately purchased helmet that's not ‘regulation’ (supplied by the army).

Like just about everybody else on the forum I watch Ebay especially things pertaining to WWI and prewar Imperial Germany and Austria. This helmet has been one of those items I followed since we talked about it here and so far, it has had a pretty interesting history.

We talked about it here on Wednesday then it sold for 250 bucks Friday on Ebay and now its back on Ebay for $575.00. Hopefully someone can flip it and make a few bucks. It's always interesting to follow ebay most of the sales always seem to show up.

I bought it cheap yes who would not. Its got to be worth $500 ish spike chinstrap etc. You can make me an offer . Rob

Hi Rob,
Had no Idea it was you who bought it, I was following it as a curiosity since it was discussed here. Good luck with the flip I'm sure someone will buy it as a parts helmet or take it and make it into something new. Cheers

I actually was curious if anyone would pounce on it. The body and some of the parts are right in line with where you priced it...good luck!
