Hey guys long time no see, my collection as not been updated in a while because of graduation and getting a new job. I have gotten a new hat, new Bavarian helmet plate and a Prussian belt buckle, if anyone has any advice on displaying the visor better and preserving it please let me know, at the moment I have a cotton flag inside to preserve the structure1000015808.jpg1000015811.jpg

Lovely display and collection. Congrats.
To keep the peaked caps in shape, I use a cardboard band of the exact size with a wooden spacer to give it the correct oval shape.

Nice cap in apparantly great condition. Always nice to see young guys taking an interest in history and collecting the object that witnessed it. Keep going.

I like to display them on wooden hat makers forms. I usually find these at flea markets. Give them a good wash and cover the top part with boiled cotton cloth, not washed with bleach. If I need to size them, I wrap the top of the form with rolled boiled cloth to get the size I need. Best thing is they are heavy so they wont have any tendency to fall over. I try to stay away from any form of Styrofoam as it can be acidic when it off gasses and will discolor fabric and leather. There is some great info on the Kaisersbunker website. I strongly suggest giving it a read
