When you want your helmet to be the finest in the neighborhood, break off the talons and get out the model paint!

I just spent a wonderful morning with Colonel J and we were discussing this. Back when we started collecting these helmets were fairly inexpensive. I would find Nazi helmets in trash cans on my way to school. Nobody seemed to be collecting. God only knows what some of our helmets have been through.

An abused WW1 US bond helmet, however, all it needs is a new wappen and some black paint taken off the spike base with water based stripper. $75 for a new wappen and you still have a reasonable purchase. There are also probably 2 usable loops on the back of the painted wappen...excellent liner.
